GDOT’s I-285 and I-20 Interchange Project

Georgia Department of Transportation's I-285/I-20 East Interchange project will improve traffic flow and safety at this busy interchange. This critical junction leading to and from Stonecrest requires operational and geometric improvements to address inefficient flow of traffic and safety performance.

Weather permitting, Georgia Department of Transportation (Georgia DOT) construction partners will implement continuous, double right lane closures along Interstate 20 eastbound (EB) between Wesley Chapel Rd. and Panola Rd. for two consecutive weekends. These closures allow crews to continue paving and leveling activities for the I285/I-20 East Interchange project.

The closures in this area are anticipated on the following schedule:

  • Friday, Oct. 4, at 9 p.m. until Monday, Oct. 7, at 5 a.m.
  • Friday, Oct. 11, at 9 p.m. until Monday, Oct. 14, at 5 a.m.

Throughout the closures, two lanes will remain open to traffic. Motorists should drive with caution through the area as crews work on the roadway.

These temporary weekend closures will be in place to minimize long term traffic impacts to the traveling public and allow crews to safely and efficiently complete the work needed.

Please be advised that these planned activities may be postponed due to air quality. Motorists and residents are encouraged to stay tuned to Georgia DOT channels for updates.

Additional project information can be found on the GDOT project website.
