Notice of Qualifying Fees and Voting Dates for the May 24 Special Mayoral Election
In accordance with O.C.G.A. § 21-2-540, notice is hereby given that a special election shall be held in the City of Stonecrest to fill the vacancy in the office of Mayor, caused by the resignation of the Honorable Mayor Jason Lary. The special election will be held on May 24, 2022.
Terms and Qualifications for the Office of Mayor
The Mayor shall serve for a term of four years. No person shall serve more than two consecutive full terms as Mayor.
A person who has served two consecutive full terms as Mayor or as a Councilmember shall be eligible for the Office of Mayor or Councilmember following the intervening of a full four-year term.
No person shall be eligible to serve as Mayor unless that person shall have been a resident of the City of Stonecrest for a continuous period of at least 12 months immediately prior to the date of the election for Mayor. The elected Mayor shall continue to reside therein during that person's period of service and shall continue to be registered and qualified to vote in municipal elections of the City of Stonecrest.

Voting Dates & Details
All persons who are not registered to vote and who desire to register to vote in the Special Election may register to vote through the close of business on April 25, 2022. Early voting will be held May 2, 2022 thru May 20, 2022.
Polls will be open from 7:00 a.m. until 7:00 p.m. on Election Day.
Should a runoff election be required, such runoff will be held on June 21, 2022.
