The City of Stonecrest will not impose an increase in property taxes for the fourth year in a row, despite an increase in property re-assessment values performed by the county.
On Thursday, the City released its annual Notice of Property Tax Increase, as required by the State of Georgia, which indicated a 1.53% increase in property taxes.
The increase is due to a rise in property values assessed by the county, not a change in the city’s millage rate.
While the City has not levied a tax increase, the re-assessment of property values by the county means that a homestead property valued at $300,000 will see an increase of approximately $2.37 in taxes, while a non-homestead property valued at $500,000 will see an increase of about $3.33.
Though the City has not raised taxes, the State requires notification of the county’s property tax increase.
For the past three years, the City of Stonecrest has maintained its millage rate at 1.257%, and it plans to do so again this year.
The City remains committed to transparency and maintaining the current millage rate.
