Mammoth Sunflower Community Challenge

Each year, the City of Stonecrest invites residents to participate in the Mammoth Sunflower Community Challenge, a citywide effort to cultivate community spirit, one sunflower at a time. For residents participating, recognition will soon be awarded in the categories listed below.

How to Plant Your Sunflower:
- Prepare a shallow trench for planting. For multiple rows, space them approximately 30 inches apart.
- Sow seeds 1 to 2 inches deep and 6 inches apart.
- Cover with soil and water thoroughly.

To celebrate community participation, recognition will be awarded in the following categories:
- The district with the highest number of blooming sunflowers
- The tallest sunflower
- The largest sunflower head
Residents may receive one complimentary sunflower seed per household. Seeds will soon be available for pickup at the Browns Mill Recreation Center. (2026 pickup dates coming soon.)
