Ceremonial Documents
Overview
Among many ceremonial functions of the office of the Mayor is recognizing and honoring people, events, activities, organizations, and more that positively and directly impact the City of Stonecrest community through the issuance of formal ceremonial documents. The office of the Mayor issues Proclamations, Commendations, and Letters of Recognition to recognize and celebrate the community. All ceremonial documents are strictly honorary and are not legally binding. The City will consider a request for a ceremonial document from City of Stonecrest residents or organizations that do work in the city, using the guidelines included below.
Individuals and organizations are limited to receiving one ceremonial document per calendar year.
Things to keep in mind
- All requests will be evaluated through an internal review and approval process.
- Submission of a request does not guarantee the issuance of a ceremonial proclamation or letter.
- Draft language submitted may be edited or revised by the Office of the City Clerk.
- Any missing information and documentation may result in the delayed processing of your request.
- Requests received via any other method (phone, mail, fax, verbal) or to any other person than the Office of the City Clerk will not be honored.
Invite the Mayor to an Event or Meeting
The Mayor regularly attends events, openings, celebrations, and ceremonies throughout the City of Stonecrest. Individuals and organizations wishing to invite the Mayor to an event must submit a request here.
All invitations will be reviewed, and the Mayor's Executive Assistant will contact you if further information is required. Please note that due to scheduling, the Mayor is not able to accept every invitation.
Request a Proclamation
Proclamations often serve to declare a special day or event, announce a government action, or communicate an important decree to the public.
Acknowledgement is normally given to reward the efforts and commitment of individuals and organizations that enhance our community and are significant to Stonecrest residents. All proclamations require suggested language. These documents are strictly honorary and are not legally binding. Request a Proclamation here.
All language is subject to review by the Mayor’s Office, and we reserve the right to decline requests that fail to meet review guidelines.
Request a Commendation Letter
A commendation recognizes an individual, organization, or specific event and serves in the same way as a proclamation. It is in no way a lesser recognition from the Mayor. It is merely a distinction between recognizing causes and individuals. Request a Commendation Letter here.
All language is subject to review by the Mayor’s Office, and we reserve the right to decline requests that fail to meet review guidelines.
