Lithonia Industrial Park is part of an industrial district which covers three City Council districts (OO1, 002, and 005) and most of the northern projection of the City into unincorporated DeKalb County. The district is more or less defined by Interstate 20, Georgia State Route 124 (Rock Chapel Road), Lithonia Industrial Boulevard, and CSX Railroad. The district’s origins date back to granite quarrying east and north of the City of Lithonia in the 19th Century. The granite aggregate quarrying industry is still important.
Businesses in the Industrial Park are represented by Stonecrest’s private business association, the Stonecrest Business Alliance. A new CID, the Stonecrest Community Improvement District, is currently being organized. Once in place, the CID will allow businesses in the Industrial Park and the rest of Stonecrest to tax themselves for new projects, infrastructure, and beautification.
Lithonia Industrial Park is looking forward to its new partnership with the City of Stonecrest, so that it can take economic development in the City to great new levels for the benefit of all the City’s residents and businesses.
