Stonecrest to Host Juneteenth Celebration at Southeast Athletic Complex

The City of Stonecrest will host its second annual Juneteenth Celebration of Freedom event at the Southeast Athletic Complex on Saturday, June 17 from 4 p.m. until 9 p.m. The program will include giveaways, food, music, live entertainment, and more. Entry gates will open at 3 p.m. The City’s celebration will conclude with a firework display at 9 p.m.

Guests will enjoy a special appearance by the Black Buffalo Soldiers, and artist performances in spoken word and dance. The event will feature an expanded kids’ fun zone with bounce houses and a petting zoo.

“Juneteenth is a powerful reminder of our nation’s past, and also an opportunity for us to celebrate the strength, courage, and resilience of Black Americans,” said Mayor Jazzmin Cobble. “The City of Stonecrest is proud to stand with Americans across the country as we commemorate Juneteenth and recommit ourselves toward building a bridge of equality and inclusion for all.”

Attendees are welcome to bring their coolers, umbrellas, lawn chairs and blankets. Visitors will be able to shop with local food and retail vendors. Pets and weapons are prohibited in the park.

The event is free and open to the public. Guests are encouraged to register for the event on the City’s Eventbrite page. The keyword search is “Stonecrest’s Juneteenth Celebration.”
