Stonecrest joins emergency management agencies across Georgia and the nation in observing National Preparedness Month during September to help raise public awareness about the importance of preparing for disasters and emergencies.
The 2022 theme “A Lasting Legacy,” reminds individuals to prioritize their personal safety, safeguard essential documentation, and create a list of important properties.
Stonecrest officials
offer the following tips to help keep individuals and families safe ahead of an
emergency:
- Create
an action plan. - Determine your evacuation route and shelter plans. Build an emergency kit with supplies that will last for several days. Consider items that are unique to each person and be sure to store items and food supplies for pets. Charge your cell phone or other devices in case you lose power.
- Keep
a list of local resources. – Contact your local fire department to learn about various safety and prevention programs. Consider participating in an emergency preparedness program provided by the American Red Cross of Georgia.
- Stay
Alert. – Sign up for free emergency alert notifications.
- Store
important documents in a safe place. – Items such as birth certificates, deeds, insurance policies, and titles should be put in either a fire resistant, or waterproof place. Consider storing documents electronically.
